Art Doll Workshop at Atlantic Center for the Arts

Monday March 22 – Wednesday March 24

Spend three days at the fabulous Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Florida creating a one-of-a-kind art doll.

You’ll learn:

  • Sewing tips that make all those little parts easier to handle
  • Stuffing techniques
  • The easiest stringing method that gives you a wonderfully poseable doll
  • Sewing , turning and wiring little fingers without fear
  • Creating faces with pens, pencils and paints
  • Costuming options
  • Making props for your doll including a small bench to match your doll

Three different doll patterns are offered. All the dolls are approximately 24” tall with jointed hips and shoulders. Different techniques for making doll joints will be offered. All the dolls have wired fingers that allow them to hold props.

There’s a small amount of pre-work:

  • Collect your supplies
  • Trace the patterns/templates onto freezer paper and cut out
  • Iron the freezer paper to your chosen fabrics as describe in the pattern
  • Sew the larger pattern pieces and trim

The pre-work will allow us to get started with the fun stuff right away. The details will be sent to you with your pattern after you register with Mary McBride mrsgorgon@gmail.com

I’ve been teaching for 12 years and I can guarantee that you will have fun while making a one-of-a-kind creation.

Hi Kathy, I’m looking forward to taking th doll workshop at ACA in a few weeks. I’d like to do Masquerade if you’ll send me the instructions so I can get a head start.

I guess this is how I’m supposed to reply, if not, please let me know what I should do.

I’ll be the one at the workshop rinning in and out as I can’t get the entire three days off from work. Thanks, Pam
