Winter in the Studio

Autumn Background 32" x 20"

I love Christmas but its nice to be back in the studio.  Its too cold and icy to want to go outside but the sun is shining and the snow sparkles.  But even with the sunlight its a pretty monochromatic world out there.  Snow, bark and the dark green of the pine needles.  So I crave color.  Hence the autumn background that brings back the glory of the woods in October.  I am torn between leaving it as an abstract or adding some image.  Comments?  Suggestions?

I have two summer and two spring backgrounds in process.  And one finished that looks like very early spring.  Morels?  Trillium?  There are so many lovely spring plants.

Spring Background 22" x 32"

I want to get six or eight finished in the next few weeks and then stitch them prior to adding the subject.  I really enjoy the process of making the pieced backgrounds.
